little obsessions bringing me joy in 2020 quarantine

I made a short list of some of my favorite things (besides family, obviously) right now that have been making me happy! Comment and let me know if you’ve tried any or there’s something currently bringing you joy!

coconut face scrub

I ordered this exfoliating face wash based on a recommendation from an influencer on IG and I am SO GLAD I DID. It makes my face so smooth, smells good, and it’s super cheap. I use it about 2-3 times a week or as needed. Click here to purchase on Amazon. I also like the Palmer’s lip balm and I hear their body scrub is good too.

AHA sparkling water

I’ve been drinking sparkling water for years and feel like I’ve tried them all from name brand to store brand. Once I tasted AHA I knew there was no going back to LaCroix. I randomly picked them up in Walmart one day. Tag me on IG @kneedlesandlife if you try one!

chocolate hummus and strawberries

Do you like hummus? Have you tried chocolate hummus? Even better, have you made your own? Try my recipe below!

– 1 can of cooked chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
– 1-4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1 tbsp of tahini
– 1/3 cup of pure maple syrup
– 1 tsp of vanilla extract
– 1/4 tsp of salt
Blend it up in a food processor or blender of some sort, adding warm water as needed until you reach your desired texture.

I like to spread it on a plain rice cake and top with strawberries. It’s definitely better if you refrigerate first too!

knitting socks

If you haven’t tried sock knitting then you are really missing out! Knitting a pair of socks was one of my 2020 goals. I started right at the beginning of January with a pair for my husband’s birthday and now I can’t stop! It’s really fun to make them for myself because my feet are small LOL. But my goal is to gift everyone in my immediate family a pair for Christmas!

If you’re brand new to sock knitting, I just made a pair of the Rye Light socks by Tin Can Knits. It’s free on Ravelry and I highly recommend as a beginner pattern. The pattern pictured below is My Favorite Vanilla Socks by The Unapologetic Knitter, also free on Ravelry.

*Hawthorn Hand Painted yarn in Peach Melba

My favorite budget sock yarn is the Stroll Tweed from KnitPicks. I also really love the Hawthorne Speckle Hand Painted yarn. But hand dyed sock yarn is always fun to use too. 🙂

pepper bras

This is so random but I’ve always struggled to find a bra that fit my tiny titties LOL. Being pregnant and fitting into a proper bra for 9 whole months was so awesome that when it was over, I noticed how ill fitting my bras were even more. Thank goodness a friend recommended the brand Pepper. My life hasn’t been the same since! They’re comfy, fit perfectly, and there’s no awkward gapping or lines. I have two of the “All You” bras and one wire free bra. I recommend sizing up for that one. I looked at the size charts but the size I ordered ended up being pretty snug.

You might be reading this and thinking, “Kalley you stay home all day why do bras matter during quarantine?” Well, I’m that weirdo that wears a bra at home so this is very important HA. Anyone else?!

I went with the size I always bought at VS but make sure you check out their size charts just to be safe. Use my referral link for $10 off your first order!

meal kit service

I never knew how much joy a meal kit service would bring me. We’ve been missing out for so long, mostly because they’re so expensive. We discovered EveryPlate about a month ago and have been getting it delivered weekly. We started out with 3 meals a week and now get 5 because they are SO DELICIOUS. I love the convenience and variety of recipes, and that you get everything you need in the correct portions too so there’s no waste. But the best part is the price – only $4.99 a serving! We’ve been using this meal delivery service for about 14 weeks now. I’ll go ahead and show you one of the unhealthy favorites of ours LOL – Philly Style Sloppy Joes!

I even have a coupon for you! Click here for $20 off your first order from EveryPlate!

What’s bringing you joy these days? Leave a comment letting me know and also make sure you pin for later!
