Do you have a holy grail mascara that you use? I recently got obsessed with trying different mascaras because I couldn’t find the perfect one for me. After trying multiple brands, I finally found what I believe to be the best mascara.
I am someone who has average lashes, nothing special. I need help with volume AND length, so it can be difficult to find a mascara that offers both. I ALWAYS curl my lashes before applying mascara and always use a primer. My go-to primer is L’Oreal Paris Voluminous. I have tried a few others, high end and drugstore, and I still liked this one the best.
I linked ALL the mascaras I tried at the very bottom of this post. Let me know if you give any a try!
Lancome Lash Idole – The Best Mascara!
Where do I begin? This mascara is UNREAL. I had seen it recommend multiple times but the price tag was always a bit of a turn off. I purchased a mini size first, which is actually pretty large. I fell in love so quickly I ordered 2 full size tubes on sale. This mascara goes on perfectly with 0 clumping no matter how many coats you do (I’ve done 5 before), and give great length, curl, and volume. It doesn’t smudge or flake at all, and comes off pretty easy with makeup remover.
I know all lashes are different, but I highly recommend giving this one a try!
Surfer Curl – Tarte
This mascara is my second favorite, and I’ll usually wear this one on a day where I’m not doing much because it’s VERY easy to wash off. It comes right off in warm water. Because of this, though, it also smudges some under my eyes and flakes a lot after wearing it all day. It has GREAT volume and length. I love the brush and you only really need one layer to have nice looking lashes.
Lash Smoothie – Tarte (sugar rush)
This is so similar to Surfer Curl but it seems waterproof. I struggled to get it off. It says it has a conditioning oil blend of hemp, castor, coconut, kiwi, avocado & baobab + plant waxes. The applicator is the same as Surfer Curl and gives nice length and volume.
Maneater – Tarte
This one was ok but not worth the price. It wasn’t any better than a drugstore mascara for me.
Lash Blast Clean – Covergirl
I used regular Lash Blast for YEARS in high school and college. I really like how lightweight it is. It has good volume but not as much length. You have to do A LOT of coats though, and reapply throughout the day because it wears off. The orange tube was the same way. I’m a little skeptical about how “clean” it actually is because it was very difficult to remove and it was not waterproof.
Worth The Hype – NYX
I used this mascara for a few years and really like it! It has pretty good length and nice volume. It doesn’t flake and it comes off well. It’s also a good price. The tube dries up pretty quickly, though.
Lash It Loud – e.l.f.
Terrible. Did nothing for my lashes.
Lash Voluminous – L’Oreal Paris
Also terrible, but I know a lot of other people like this mascara.
Voluminous Lash Paradise – L’Oreal Paris
This one is better. It has great volume, just not as much length as the one below. I think it’s good for the price.
Telescopic – L’Oreal Paris
This mascara gives amazing length! It offered no volume, though. I feel like it actually took away from my natural volume and made my lashes look very separated. You could possibly layer this and Lash Paradise together but my lashes don’t layer well with different types of mascara. If all you want is length, though, this is a great affordable option.
Lash Princess – Essence
This is an excellent mascara for $5. It’s a bit clumpy but if you’re careful and only apply one coat, you’ll have nice length and volume. It didn’t flake at all for me either.
Recommended to me…
